New Job

I was supposed to start a new job this morning.

A temporary job delivering utility bills while the post office is going through their labour disruptions.

I know I would be a scab but the money seemed OK & all the walking would be good for me.

Anyway I showed up for at the Horizon building on John St. this morning at 8:15 (15 minutes earlier than requested), signed in with security & waited around with 2 other guys.

After awhile one of the other guys talked to one of the security guards (really big mean looking guys by the way - does Horizon have that kind of security issues ??). He was informed that the appropriate person had been informed of our presence & "he would wander down whenever he wanders down".

At 9:10 I left.

Maybe I have the wrong attitude for this type of employment but I figure when an employer starts out with no respect for their employees, things are only going to go downhill from there.

I think employers think that people who do these types of temp jobs are a dime a dozen & unfortunalely some employers treat them that way.
All it would have taken to keep me there was one quick call to security to let us know he was tied up.
