Chilly Morning

In addition to electric baseboard heaters (or maybe because of them) our house has 2 gas fireplaces - one in the living room & one in the basement family room - both are controlled by thermostats.

It must have been cold last night because both fireplaces came on this morning to take the chill out of the house.

Funny because just yesterday I read it was supposed to be a warmer than average fall :)

The report also said we would have more snow this year than we had last winter - a pretty safe bet I'd say since we had almost no snow last winter.

Zoe

We took Zoe to a vet here in Port yesterday to get some medication for her eyes.

First thing the guy is worried about is that she has lost about 10 lbs in the last year & says that at her age that's not usually a good sign.

So.... we wind up spending $200 for tests to tell us if she is healthy enough to bother spending  money for more eye medication.

Turns out she is quite healthy so... we spend another $200 for drops & pills to try & clear up her eyes.

Turns out she probably lost that weight because of the stress of moving.

Funny thing though I think the move caused me a lot more stress than her & I gained weight,

Vacation Plans

We are doing a two-part vacation this fall.

Oct 29-31 at the Wyndham Ocean Boulevard Resort in Myrtle Beach.

Nov 1 - 4 at the Wyndham Smoky Mountain Resort in Tennessee.

Friends from Kentucky are meeting us for the weekend in Tennessee - should be fun.

Our Wyndham time share is on a points system so we can book resorts from 1 day & up.
With our other time share we have to book full weeks.

Meeting with the new pastor  & his wife yesterday went well - we both felt very comfortable with them.
They only had an hour & a half open to meet with us but left saying they are anxious to meet again soon.

POG

We have been attending Port of Grace (POG) in Port Colborne for a couple of months now & really like it.

Its in a store front right down town, very casual with a real heart for people.

Its been hard to get a handle on exactly who attends because so many of them have been at camp over the summer - camp seems to be a big part of their church culture.

Someone (a christian) told us when we moved here that we wouldn't like POG because there were a lot of "those people" there. I guess by "those people" he meant the ones Jesus hung out with :)

We are having coffee with the pastor tomorrow & are looking forward to finding out more about the church.

Hmmm

This morning I ordered a couple of Cd's from Amazon (Chris Tomlin's and if our God is for us & David Crowder Band's give us rest)

During the checkout procedure I was presented with an option I had not seen before - by simply pressing a button I could immediately let all of my face book friends (or in my case Marion's friends who follow her on my face book) know that I had just purchased the two Cd's.

I also could have twittered the information if I was a twitterer :)

Really ??

Are people out there so bored they need to know what other people are buying on Amazon ??

Or are there folk out there that lead such interesting lives and are on the cutting edge of things that people want to know what they have purchased ??

I can't imagine anyone, other than Marion who gets to listen to the Cd's & pay for them, being interested enough to have to be immediately notified.

Now I could see it if David Crowder, Chris Tomlin or their record companies received some type of notification that I had just purchased their product - its money in their pockets but you folks out there can wait until it comes up in conversation or you hear them playing if you happen to visit.

Wow

I knew we had been busy lately but didn't realize how busy until yesterday when we finally put our office back together & I set up my computer for the first time in awhile.

I have not blogged in almost a month & the last desktop puzzle I worked on was May 14th.

But we are almost done - the only major things left are the vinyl flooring in the kitchen & hall, the back splash  in the kitchen & new railings on the staircase - all of which we hope to have done by Tuesday if the flooring guys & our contractor can play nice together.

Its been a long long three months but the house looks great - Mar did a great job picking paint colours, carpeting & window coverings.

Can't wait to get back to normal living - whatever that is :)

House Update

I think the end is near - faith statement

New front windows; front door are installed. Terry (our contractor) has finished the upstairs bathroom (we have to paint it) and is almost finished the downstairs bathroom. The new counter top & taps are installed in the kitchen.

The major hold up now is that Marion &  I told the painter we would paint all the trim before he showed up (save some $$$) but when we said that there was very little white trim - most of the trim was stained wood.

Since then, however, we decided to take out all the interior doors & replace them with 800 series white doors
  • 9 passage doors
  • 2 bi-fold doors
  • 6 sliding closet doors

Now we have to paint all the doors & all the trim in the house before the painter & floor guys come.

Trim upstairs is almost done :)
