Robins

We have been watching a robin's nest in a corner of our front porch all spring.
First the mess the birds made making the nest then watching her sit in the nest most of the day.
Then she had 3 mouths to feed - she spent 2 weeks furiously flying back & forth with worms for the kids.
About 10 days ago one of the babies fell out of the nest so I picked it up & put him back in the nest - she kept feeding him so I guess robins don't care if one of the kids smells of human :)
On Tuesday one of the birds left the nest - we watched as he hopped across a couple of lawns while his mom would land next to him, kind of poke him, seemingly trying to get him to fly. She must have succeeded as he wasn't around after awhile - either that or he became cat food.
Today I noticed the nest was empty - I wonder if robins suffer from empty nest syndrome ??
