Super Bowl Party

I went to the Super Bowl party at church last night. First time I have gone to a big party for the game.

  • Wings, chili & lots of munchies set out for our eating enjoyment.
  • Scaffolding set up so people could climb up & watch the game from a little higher altitude if they desired (the kids took this option - adults wisely staying at ground level).
  • The game. with satelite feed from the US, set up on the big screen.

When I think back on the evening two things stand out for me:
  1. The kids, about 2/3 of the crowd, were really into the game for about half an hour then they quickly lost interest & started their own football game in the back of the auditorium which lasted the rest of the evening.
  2. The adults (whose ranks grew thinner as the night progressed) wound up sitting in one group with lots of chatter about the game, as long as the game was on, BUT since we had the american satelite feed, as soon as a commercial came on things got very quiet so we wouldn't miss any of it (there are no instant replays of commercials)
I got to know a couple of the guys a little better & all in all I enjoyed the experience - except the wrong team won the game :)
