This morning I had to run over to Lococo's & Fortino's to pick up some veggies & spices for the turkey soup brewing on the stove.
I, mistakenly, thought that it would be a quick trip at 11AM on a Monday morning.
Turns out that both stores were full of "old people"!!
I realize that some of you are thinking "well you would fit right in then" :)
But I didn't !!
You see "old people" consider shopping to be an outing. Something to be enjoyed & made to last as long as possible.
"Old people" push their carts very slowly up & down each aisle often leaving their cart in the middle of the aisle so as to effectively block anyone else from getting through.
Once finished shopping "old people" seem to regard the cashier as a new BBF - someone to converse with for as long as possible regardless of how many people are in line behind them.
A ploy "old people" use to remain with their BBF cashier is the old " I can't figure out the change" routine. Either they keep offering the cashier the wrong amount or they resort to the " I think I've got a nickel in here somewhere" bit.
After finally cashing out "old people" turn leaving the store into some kind of game,
I'm sure later at the home they are all graded on how slowly they made the trip from the cashier to the door & how many other people were lined up behind them.
Next time I'll run to the store between 5 & 6 when it is full of working folk who just want to get in & out as quickly as possible.

just don't go to a shoppers drug mart on seniors day. it will make your grocery shopping look fast.
Mondays are my day off. I learned a long time ago that Monday mornings are not good times to shop. It's not just the "old people". It's also that the shelves haven't been restocked.
But I still do it then anyway, sometimes. ;)
