Since it was such a beautiful holiday Monday mrv & I decided to go for a ride in our convertible. 2:30 found us a little hungry and in downtown Port Burwell. We noticed the Lighthouse restaurant had a nice little patio so decided to have lunch there.
While walking in we passed a few nice looking bikes, once on the patio we noticed a few not so nice looking bikers. After we ordered, a few more wandered in looking even more not so nice.
There were only 2 couples of non-biker looking folk on the patio and only one table (ours if you are wondering) not making full use of their ashtrays.
Soon one of the biker looking dudes got up from his table & wandered over to the little stage and started singing and playing guitar - some country and some east coast songs. As I went onto the restaurant to pay the bill he started singing something about dancing with the Lord but I figured I must have not heard the words properly. After paying the bill I came back outside to collect mrv & to my surprise the guy was singing a worship song we sing a CF.
You would think that after this long at CF I would learn not to judge a book by its cover but I still sometimes do & am too often surprised.
One other amusing thing happened at that lunch: when the waitress came by to ask how our lunch was, we both replied "excellent". To which the waitress replied " Wow, that's good" like she was surprised at our response.
Maybe we got the only two good perch dinners she served that day :)

It's awful hard not to judge when you find yourself in a situation like that. I think I would have had the same reactions as you did. Maybe these incidents are meant to be part of the learning curve as Christians and maybe we should be more quick to offer a silent prayer of God's Blessing than looking with a wondering or critical eye. Thanks for sharing - one more fine tuning of our attitudes.
LOL.
I didn't see the end of that story coming - that's really funny!!
(Although doesn't it make you wonder when the waitress is surprised that the food is good.... don't ask too many questions there.)
Did you talk to the scary bikers at all?
Maybe they were scared of you and mrv.
truly excellent.. what a great story, and very well told.
hey, dad, are you interested in taking a day off on august 25th and doing a mini-missions trip to orillia with Bob? he's taking a team up to start clearing the land for a habitat for humanity build.. it will be an ongoing project throughout the year, helping at different stages of the build.. :)
I think CF could survive without Bob on that day.
In case you felt you needed our permission, haha!!!!!!!
the 25th is a Monday Patti.
so I'm thinking its Inco that will have to survive without me.
I'll let my boss know that my pastor has OK'd the trip though :)
