Great day -received 2 CD's & a book from Amazon on Tuesday.
See the Morning by Chris Tomlin - excellent. I see Pastor P and the worship band are already playing some songs from this one.
Remedy by the David Crowder Band - WOW. I really like this one. Realize now that many of the songs I really like from the Passion CD are David Crowder's.
The book is The Jesus I Never Knew - can't wait to read it. Do I have the discipline to finish the book on prayer I am currently reading & enjoying??

I like CD's that I can sin along too cause they are used during our
worship at CF
mrv - you may want to re-read & edit your last comment.
mrv - ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like Chris Tomlin, and you're right, we used several songs off "See the Morning."
"i like cd's that i can sin along too cause they are used during our worship at CF"
excellent!
maybe i'll come to church this weekend and SIN along with you!
Wow, I just got an e-mail from Bob saying I might want to check out his blog!!!
Well the way I have been feeling lately ...sin along to sounds good, but I really meant sing a long too.
If nothing else made everyones day !!! lololol
All SINners welcome at Crossfire.
SINGers too.
Whew, was glad to hear that Patti!!!
You figure out ..which one I am lol.
I'm a sinner
I'm a singer
I'm a lottery winner
and I'm feeling alrighhhhttttt.
I think I could turn this into a country song. Whatta ya think?
Dougie, are you looking to get on the Worship Team?
I can make a space for you and Marion to have your VERY OWN team.
=)
Patti... I don't know if you know this, but at one time I was on the worship team. We had a mens worship team several years ago. I was also on the regular one. I love to sing and think I can carry a tune pretty good.
I remember singing a song that went like this:
" Great big God and itty bitty devil"
Roy loved my deep voice that I used when I sung "itty bitty devil"
He got a chuckle out it.
Some day, maybe sooner than later, when I am succesfull at my business and have time on my hands I would like to sing on the worship team again. What an awesome privilidge to lead people into the Thrown Room!
dougie g -
I DID NOT KNOW THAT!!!! Why does no one tell me these things???!!! Come talk to me when you're ready, my friend!
Hey, may I chuckle with you? Is the "thrown" room the dramatic renewal-style version of the "throne" room?
hehehehehe
OOPs! Spelling has never been my strong point. Maybe that was a froidien ( I know I spelled that wrong) slip.
I had a vision once that worship was so amazing people were actually flying around the room! What a fun vision. In that sense, I guess a renewal-style version of "throne" room might be appropriate.
Great big God - itty bitty devil!!
I tend to either really like a song or just feel kind of neutral about it BUT how I hated that song!!
The guy who wrote it was a good friend but I still couldn't stand it!!
Problem was he was our worship leader and everyone else in the church seemed to love it - so we sang it - a lot.
Thankfully it wasn't representative of Rob's music.
well, and doctrine-wise that song is completely out of whack. i won't get on a rant about it, but suffice it to say that yes our God is bigger than the devil, but I wouldn't class Satan as "itty bitty".. just more feel-good christian fluff-stuff.
and yes, thankfully that was NOT representative of rob's music.
although, no song has been as annoying as "shine jesus shine".. i'm not even sure it's possible.
I thought it was a fun song to sing. I didn't really analyize the doctrinal accuracy of the lyrics. Personally, I prefer a song that tells a story with a melodic tune. Something that just grabs at your heartstrings and makes you want to cry. It's really hard to do that and sing at the same time though. I haven't figured that one out yet.
Shine Jesus shine. Every time I hear that song, I think of Dave and Rita who used to come out to our church. Rita just loved that song. Our worship leader at that time would do a few encors just for her. Yah, it did get tiring. I think some songs kind of wear out their welcome after a while.
Chris, you don't know Rita, but
it explains "shine Jesus shine".
Although, I must stay I personally
like that song, (without actions)
but....then again one of my favourite is Jesus Loves Me, so
that might explain why I like
"Shine Jesus Shine" too lol
Our family could get into quite a discussion with regard to worship sons since I think we have gone the
whole mile with different types !!!!
We better shut up ....while were ahead....don't forget "THE SOLID GOLD DANCERS" lol
Think I need a new typing course, its getting horrible "stay " should have been "say"
Much like "sin" and "sing" lol
its probably that new wireless keyboard??
maybe you need more powerful batteries so it can keep up to your fingers.
mrv - I like Jesus Loves Me, too!
I'm enjoying the typo's. Nut thet i wood everr maeke anee tipe-ooos maiself, of coarse. hehe
So are all sinners ushered into the thrown room? :)
MRV.... worship sons? So how many do you have? I'd like to meet them.
Threat.... good question. No ushers, just leaders! lol
*snicker*
dougie "I don't analyse the doctrinal accuracy of the lyrics".. this is an important issue for me. i don't want to be spoon-fed, high-on-emotion christian who just sings to my little heart's content. i want to MAKE SURE that what i am singing is something i believe in and mean.. true worship is smart worship..
if it were all about tunes and not about lyrics, i'd be worshipping to nirvana or pet shop boys.
Christine. If the lyrics were really bad or absolutely untrue, I certainly would not be using that as a worship song. Great Big God and itty bitty devil may not be doctinally accurate, but it is not that wrong either. To me it just implies that God is bigger than the devil, which is true. We know the devil has power, but God is omnipotent.
Some of our greatest worship songs used to be bar tunes in the olden days. Even some of the contemporary songs I have heard, if you changed just one or two of the words, I think would make awesome worship songs.
"what i am singing is something i believe in and mean"
I'm with you on that one.
I just finnished reading a book yesterday called " 90 Minutes In Heaven" by Don Piper. You can get it in the Christian book stores. I recommend it to everyone. What an encouragement. It's about a pastor who is killed in a car wreck, was pronounced dead on the scene. I don't want to spoil the story for you too much. He was dead for 90 minutes and was in heaven. Another pastor prays for him at the accident scene and he comes back to life and then tells his story. Heres, what he said about the worship in heaven:
I Quote:
Page 31 Paragraph 6
" As I stood before the gate, I didn't think of it, but later I realized that I didn't hear such songs as " The Old Rugged Cross" or " The Nail-Scarred Hand". None of these hymns that filled the air were about Jesus' sacrifice or death. I heard no sad songs and instinctively knew that there are no sad songs in heaven. Why would there be? All were praises about Christ's reign as King of Kings and our joyful worship for all he has done for us and how wonderful he is." End of quote.
Cool eh! This book has really changed by perspective on what heaven is really like. I am not afraid to go there at all. This is very exciting news and I want to tell others so they can be there too.
It could give us a clue as to type of worship we should have here on earth too!
I assume this book is fiction?
Oh dear.. it's not.
Let's remember that this is what one man believes he saw when he was pronounced dead for 90 minutes.
I, for one, do not believe that heaven will be like anything we can compare it to in a human way, and I have serious doubts about this book.
My spidey senses are tingling.. I'm not usually into UFO sightings or heaven-experiences.
Forgive my harshness. I'm jaded about this sort of money-making stuff.
Belief is a personal choice. My beliefs and attitudes have changed as I have matured over the years and received more grace into my life and into my attitudes.
All I know, is this man's testimony has brought much comfort to those with terminal illness, the doubting, the seeking and to me!
Don't judge a book by it's cover or by someone elses referral.
Read it yourself.
This is a true story. Whether or not you believe his testimony is a personal choice.
I choose to believe him.
Read 1 Corinthians 13:3-7. I like the message version. It says Love
" Always looks for the best"
Yep , sounds like lots of grace to me!!!
