All in the Translation

We like to gather our 4 analytical work groups together once a month or so for lunch - a team building thing.
We had talked about bringing in Chinese food for our next get together & on the way to work yesterday I heard an ad on the radio for a Chinese restaurant that one of my pastors had mentioned she really liked when she lived in Toronto.
So I went on the net to look at their menu & see if they deliver to the Mississauga/Oakville area.
Can't find them anywhere.
Finally I turned to Lynna, the Chinese lady who sits in the next desk, and asked if she could see why I couldn't find this restaurant anywhere.
Looking over my shoulder she said " silly Caucasian - its "Ho Lee Chow" not "Holy Chow"!!

I once roomed with an Asian woman. The first time she called me Caucasian, I had no idea what she was talking about. I honestly thought she'd just sworn at me. But then, I also thought that chinese food from the restaurant was what people in China ate every day.

That's hilarious! Silly Caucasion! I love it!
Ho Lee Chow Batman...They are all over Toronto. Very popular. I know of one I pass on my bus route near Dundas St. and Kipling Ave. if you are in that area. This is near Mississauga so they probably do deliver there. Next meeting.

Ho Lee Chow is AWESOME!

We loved it when we lived in TO.

Now we are in Hamilton...it's not here.

:(

i have never tried it, mostly because i worked with a girl that used to cook at ho-lee and she was.. how shall i put this.. unreliable and frightening on a good day. i figure if i can't trust someone's hiring process, i probably shouldn't eat their food.

but patti, we both listen to cfrb.. and the commercials say the food is fresh and awesome!

and, side note, i won a book on cfrb. (sorry, dad, for hijacking your blog.. but it is a christie blatchford book!)

F.Y.I. - I found a Ho Lee Chow restaurant in Burlington today. It's on Guelph line, at Burlington Mall. Looks like a little take-out only joint.

When I turned 50 I got a certificate giving me the right to drive with my turn signal on whenever I want to.
Can't wait to see what 60 brings.

christine! i heard them giving that book away - i almost called in, but i thought, "Oh, I'll never win. I wonder who DOES win on those call-ins?"

And it was you. I'm impressed.

Bob...you ALWAYS make me laugh.

I think at 60 your driver's licence gets upgraded so that you are no longer required to look in your mirror when you back out of your driveway.

As Jerry Seinfeld once said of this syndrome, "I'VE survived this long. Let's see if YOU can!"

Happy Birthday!

p.s. to dougie g who, no doubt, has noticed how very late I am at posting on the imajustathinkin blog ... thanks for not pointing it out yet! You are full of grace!

Patti...I knew you were busy and I knew it would be worth waiting for, which it was. Good job. Everybody should go look and join the discussion and see for themselves what a good job you did.
Besides, you're the pastor and I don't want to get excommunicated!lol.

Oooooh, do I have that power???

Not that I would EVER want to use it....

LOL!!!

just for the record I spent one of those nights "on hold' with Star Choice trying to find out what was wrong with my reciever (it was dead), another putting together a new stand and yet another "on hold" with Star Choice to bring the new reciever on line.
Last night I finally sat down and watched a hockey game on my new TV - it was awesome!!
