For Sale

I was reading today about a couple of televangelists (who shall remain nameless - Thomas Weeks & THE PROPHETESS Juanita Bynum) in the States so I went to their websites and also their church website.

Now I know what's wrong with my church's site - its just information about the church.

THERE'S NOTHING FOR SALE!!

Come on leadership let's get with it:

  • Package up all those old sermons and offer them up @ 2 for $20

  • Where's the CD's from our worship band ??

  • What's this ?? No seminars or conferences ??

  • No opportunity to donate money??

  • No books written by our pastors??

No wait a minute - never mind.

The fact that all those things are missing is a good thing!!

Keep up the good work guys.

It's been done Patti:
$120 for 1 year
$60 for 6 months
$15 for 1 month
& the $1 one time posting

& yes I am bored
samples pretty much on the hour every hour but not enough work for the whole hour but not enough time between samples to do anything constructive.

NO WAY!!!! Seriously? Charging for participation in a blog???!!!

I'm shocked.

(And quite gullible, if you're joking)

the fees are for an "on-line membership" which enables you to access over 500 hours of teachings plus personal messeages from the pastor.
So kind of joking but not really.

One of the things I love about CF is that you are shocked at something like that.

Oh good grief.

I couldn't handle 500 hours of teaching from anyone.

Never mind personal messages I have to pay for.

I am far too much of a cynic for something like that.

Would anyone like to buy my teaching, "Ramblings of a Cynic"? Only $49.95, and I'll throw in...hmmm...what could I throw in?

Jeff's hard rock gold nailpolish.

That would be "anointed" hard rock gold nail polish.

Would paying the fees for accessing the entire website count as tithing??

TLC..I think that comes under
offering..not tithing lol.

We are to give our tithes and offerings.

On a more serious note. This is the very thing that turns off people like my father-in-law from taking Christianity or Christians seriously. He see's us all as bunch of money grabbing hypocrits. Perhaps the fact that his legalistic Christian parents decided to give all their money to missionaries and didn't leave any for a Christmas present for him, might have something to do with it. But some of these TV evangelists and all their money making ideas don't make it any easier. I really want my father-in-law to be set free, so join me in praying for him please!

Dougie: I don't think it is entirely tv evangalists either, most people know that there are
lots of phoney tv money grabbers selling annointed kleenex, key chains and everything else you can pick up in dollar stores.

I think what turns people away are
just so called normal christians, that are so heavenly minded they are no earthly good. They can't
say 2 words without bringing God into it.

We all know God is in everything,
but we seem to try to prove it to the unsaved.

With Bob and I , I think it was
relationship with christians that
never mentioned God unless we asked. They were just normal folk
that seemed to enjoy hanging out
with us (the unsaved) We knew they "went to church" ..but they didn't push it on us. Finally we
asked them if you are "born again" why don't you act silly like the rest of them? Thats when we got
interested in Christ, when we found out you could be saved and normal too. hahahah ..

as for the money-grubbing, it is almost embarrassing what christians will do/sell for money.

MRV... I agree. I think what people are looking for is to see if we are real or not. People can spot a phony a mile away. I don't think it matters if you talk allot openly about Jesus or you don't. Some people are just overflowing with Christs love and they can't help talking about him. I was like that when I first got saved and I still love to talk about him. People know if it is coming from the heart or just allot of empty words. Some people don't say a word and the Holy Spirit just shines out of them through their smile. God put you in the right place with the right people at the right time. I don't think that was an accident. Others may need a little more verbal stimulation. Different strokes for different folks I guess! The trick is for none of us to quench the spirit, no matter how he decides to work on people, whether it is through a TV evangelist, a pastor or just some friends in their living room over a game of cards.

One of my tenants gets all sorts of mail from tv evangelists. They have things on the front of the envelopes like "God said 'Do it again'!"

I guess God is giving these mail recipients personal messages via mass mail. And if you "plant a seed" your prayers will be answered.

It makes me sad and mad.

None of these guys has any more authority than you or I. Unfortunately the masses don't see that.

Just my opinion.
